I am an older bride—I’m looking for something different !
This is something I’ve heard many times. Honestly, in my eyes, older women are just as beautiful as younger brides. They often maintain their figures well, and they exude confidence, intelligence, and practicality. They usually know what silhouettes flatter them best, and it’s always a pleasure to work with them.
Many older brides tend to choose mermaid or fit-and-flare styles, like our styles 202407 or 202052, believing that ball gowns or princess looks are meant for younger brides. But I always encourage them to try the dresses on first. Photos in a catalog or online just don’t do justice to how a dress truly fits and feels. Interestingly, once they try on our gowns, they’re often surprised to discover how great they look in a variety of silhouettes!
Of course, in the end, they choose the dress that best represents their image for the wedding day—and I’m always thrilled for them.
Some older brides prefer to avoid styles that are too revealing, especially around the neck or upper chest. Others may want long sleeves to cover their arms, which is completely understandable. Most of them are looking for something simple, lightweight, and comfortable—like our styles 202010 or 202414. After all, a wedding day is long and demanding, and simplicity often enhances elegance.
I’ve also noticed that many older brides who still have a curvy, sexy figure want to show it off—but in a subtle, tasteful way. A dress with strategically placed seam lines or structure can do wonders, like our style 202015.
Some customers want a bit of color in their wedding dress—not just plain white. One bride, for instance, chose our 202415 and changed the lining to a dusty blue, which turned out stunning. Another picked 202030 and had it made with a champagne-colored lining—it gave her such a graceful, elegant look!
As I always say, older women know exactly what to do to bring out their best features.
Others end up choosing an A-line skirt, like our 202109, which cleverly covers the stomach area. It also features off-the-shoulder sleeves that can be worn two ways: "off" the shoulder to cover the upper arms or "on" the shoulder for a more secure bodice fit. The pleated skirt also flatters the body beautifully.
So, if you’re an older bride, don’t hesitate—come try on different silhouettes before making your final decision. You might just discover that age is another wonderful asset in helping you find your dream wedding dress.
